Sitting in my office listerning to a buzzard flying around

Saturday, 24 August 2013

A wet day similar to the previous Saturday, but it gave the opportunity to get a few things completed around the house, pictures collected - including the aboriginal print from Australia from 2006, and the new glass in the print from France that hangs in the back loo.

We arranged with Des to have the new cupboards delivered after the floors have been sanded, we have a carpenter calling around to look at the job later today.

A Day in the Garden

Obviously we are increasingly affected by Global Warming, inasmuch that we were able to have a very pleasent day working in the garden over the recent bank holiday.

I was able to replace the grid in the pond, in readiness for grandchildren falling in.

This was installed by Safapond earlier this year, very quick & easy, and I had removed it a week earlier to allow George to clean the pond out, something he does for us every year
We want to add some more fish in a few weeks, after an Otter took two of the three carp that lived here.

Yesterday we walked with friends, Judith, Terry, Clare and Jim, through Bonnywood.  While we were amazed at the plants growing there, and our (in)ability to name many of them, including a wild orchid.

I’m reading Notes from Walnut Tree Farm by Roger Deakin where he describes and names many more plants as he walks around Mellis Common
